BIRTH OF TRAKBELT360
While working as a photographer for the FDNY’s forensics unit, Chris responded to a building collapse with reports of people trapped inside.
With training as both a first responder and photographer, he was able to enter the collapse zone and document firefighters searching for victims beneath the debris. After taking photographs inside the unstable structure, Chris began making his way out of the area, which remained an active and dangerous scene.
While attempting to squeeze through a narrow opening to exit the collapse zone, he became caught on debris and was unable to free himself. Thinking quickly, Chris released his belt to escape, dragging his photography gear behind him through dirt and rubble, damaging much of his equipment in the process.
That life-threatening moment exposed the need for a better way to stay secure, organized, and aware in hazardous environments. From that experience, the idea for TRAKBELT360™ was born.
